Funeral & Janazah
The Islamic Chaplaincy of New Jersey is committed to supporting individuals and families during times of loss with compassion, dignity, and spiritual care. We recognize that the passing of a loved one is one of life’s most difficult moments, and our role is to ensure that families receive proper religious guidance, pastoral presence, and prayer support throughout the funeral process.
Islamic Chaplaincy works alongside a number of Muslim-owned and operated funeral homes, burial services, and cemeteries to assist families with logistical arrangements such as burial coordination, funeral transport, and cemetery services. These service providers handle the operational and administrative aspects of burial in accordance with Islamic requirements.
Our primary role is religious and pastoral. Janazah prayers, graveside supplications, eulogies, and religious guidance before, during, and after the funeral are conducted by our Head Imam and esteemed chaplains. We work closely with families to ensure that the religious rites are carried out with sincerity, care, and adherence to Islamic tradition.
While we may coordinate and communicate with funeral service providers when needed, Islamic Chaplaincy does not operate funeral services, negotiate pricing, or oversee the business practices of any funeral home or burial organization. Families are encouraged to select the funeral service provider that best meets their needs and expectations.
Islamic Chaplaincy remains committed to serving the community with compassion, clarity, and integrity during times of grief. If you require an Imam or chaplain to officiate the Janazah prayer, lead graveside supplications, or provide pastoral support, we are honored to assist.
